My Favorite Thing to Say Is, "I Know Someone." (And That's Why We Created JAC's Biz Besties)

One of the questions I get asked all the time is, "Do you know someone who can help with..." and honestly, it's one of my favorite questions.

Need a bookkeeper? Oh, I've got a couple of fantastic ones.
Looking for someone who lives and breathes nonprofit governance? Yep!
Need help with fundraising strategy, branding, executive coaching, strateg
ic planning, or marketing? Chances are, I already know exactly who you should call.
Over the years, I've realized that one of the most valuable things I've built isn't just a grant writing business. It's a network of genuinely incredible people who care just as much about helping organizations succeed as I do.
I think we've somehow convinced ourselves that the best consultants are the ones who say "yes" to everything. For instance, I'm regularly asked if I can help with individual fundraising, capital campaigns, donor databases, board development, and all kinds of nonprofit strategy. Could I probably figure some of it out? Sure… but that's not where I create the most value, and I'm not interested in being mediocre at ten different things. Honestly, I'd rather be exceptional at one or two, which means staying in my lane, doing grants exceptionally well, and knowing exactly who to call when a client needs something outside my expertise.
Frankly, at the end of the day, I'd much rather connect someone with the right expert than pretend I have all the answers. That's exactly why we created our new Biz Besties page!
Unlike some networking sites or online business directories, this isn't just a collection of people looking for more exposure, and it's definitely not a list of random businesses I found after a quick Google or LinkedIn search. Every person on that page is someone I've built a real relationship with over the years. Some have partnered with JAC on client projects, some have supported my own business behind the scenes, and others are simply people I've watched do incredible work for organizations I care about.
In short, every single one of them brings something unique to the table, but they all share one thing in common: they've earned my trust. And if you know me, you know I don't hand out referrals lightly.
Every recommendation I make reflects not only on JAC but also my personal reputation. If I tell someone, "I know the perfect person," I want them to walk away thinking, "She was absolutely right."
Relationships have always been one of my favorite parts of running this business because around here, "I know someone" isn't just a phrase. It's a promise. A promise that the person I'm sending you to is someone I trust, respect, and would confidently hire myself.
After all, the best thing about having a great network isn't knowing everyone... It's knowing exactly who to call!
P.S. One last thing... huge thanks to Lexi at Myliu Marketing for creating our Biz Besties page. She also designed my entire brand and website, so if you've ever complimented JAC's look, she's the one you should thank. She's one of my Biz Besties for a reason, and I'm pretty sure she deserves hazard pay for keeping up with all of my ideas. :)
